Overview
The Commerce Bank Reading Classic on June 5, 2008 will be the second stop of the Commerce Bank Triple Crown of Cycling series, featuring nearly 200 of the sport’s top professional athletes competing for a place on the podium.  The event includes an elite amateur men’s race, a professional women’s race, and the featured international pro men’s race.  As in previous years, the demanding 74-mile course is sure to push the international men’s peloton to its limit over 10 laps on a challenging circuit that connects downtown Reading with Mt. Penn.

Course Description
The course begins and ends in Reading in the 300 block of Penn Street.   Elite Amateur Men will cover 25 miles racing on an eight-corner criterium circuit through Reading’s streets.  They will average almost 30 mph on a fast, downtown course.

The Cyclists – Elite Amateur Men
Field Limit: 120. Each Elite Amateur men’s team is limited to 6 riders, Categories 1 or 2 only, and must include at least one U23 rider.  Entry is by team invitation only.

Spectators/VIP Tickets

The Commerce Bank Triple Crown of Cycling Lifestyle Expo on Penn Street will feature exhibitors and information on everything cycling, fitness, sports and more in the region.  Be sure to visit the Lifestyle Expo for tips on finding the perfect bicycle, to see the latest cycling fashions, learn how to choose a helmet, discover what to eat to avoid the “bonk” while cycling or running, and to learn more about other sporting and community events in the area.

Reading’s Family Fun Zones will offer food vendors, live music and entertainment and some of the best vantage points for viewing the race.  City Park Fun Zone is located right at the cyclists’ feed zone and provides a great spot for watching their climb up Duryea Drive.  The Centre Park Fun Zone is situated on a long, uphill straight-away on Centre Avenue, and new this year will be a Downtown Fun Zone which will put spectators in close proximity to the thrills of the start-finish line on Penn Street. WEEU-830AM radio will broadcast live from each of the Fun Zone spots.
