The 2010 TD Bank Philadelphia International Championship was a hard-fought battle over 156 long miles, with breakaways and solo attacks, all culminating in a fast field sprint that saw Australia's Matt Goss (HTC-Columbia) crossing the line first. The win makes it the second year in a row for the HTC-Columbia team, in both the men's and women's races. Peter Sagan (Liquigas-Doimo) and Norway's Alexander Kristoff (BMC Racing Team) came in for second and third place.

The TD Bank Liberty Classic finished in an exciting field sprint, with the pre-race favorite Ina Teutenberg (HTC-Columbia) powering away from the field in the final meters to take her fourth win in Philadelphia and making it two-in-a-row. Shelley Evans (Peanut Butter & Co./2012) led out the sprint in an effort to beat Teutenberg and held on for second, while Philly local Teresa Cliff-Ryan (Colavita-Baci) rounded-out the podium in third.

Philadelphia – 06/02/2010 – The TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship just got more exciting. SugarHouse Casino, a new sponsor in 2009, has come back in 2010 with an gambler’s twist to the race -- a SugarHouse Jackpot sprint competition with a prize purse totaling $10,000.

Just like in races such as the Tour de France, a separate 'race within a race' for the sprinters makes for added excitement throughout the race. The format is simple:

- Points are awarded to the first three riders over the start/finish line on Ben Franklin Parkway on certain laps (7 points for first, 5 for second and 3 for third.)

- Sprint laps begin with the end of the opening small loops of Eakins Oval and Logan Square, then occur on odd number laps (1-9,) and conclude on lap 10 before the last big circuit to Manayunk.

- There will be double points awarded at the half-way mark of the race (lap 5) and the final sprint (lap 10.)

PRESS CONFERENCE KICKS OFF BIKE RACE WEEKEND

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter helped welcome some of the top riders for the TD Bank Philadelphia Championship at the official press conference Friday, held at the TD Bank branch on 19th and Market in Philadelphia.

The featured riders included, Scott Zwizanski (Kelly Benefit Strategies,) Tyler Wren (Jamis-Sutter Home,) Teresa Cliff-Ryan (Colavita-Baci,) and Chad Hartley (Kenda-Gear Grinder.)

"This is the most important one-day race of the year for us," said Zwizanski. "Guys not from the area know about this race. The crowds here are amazing."

TD Bank introduced its new mascot, “TD”, a colorful character who will be at the race activities on Sunday.

Mayor Nutter encouraged the expected 300,000 plus crowds to visit the TD Bank Family Fun Zone during the race as well as the Astra Zeneca Wellness Challenge before the race start of 9:00 a.m.
