Pro Cycling Tour (PCT) is pleased to announce that TD Bank will serve as the Title Sponsor of the 2009 Philadelphia International Cycling Championship, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary on June 7, 2009. TD Bank and PCT officials currently are discussing a multi-year agreement by TD Bank to continue sponsoring the Philadelphia race, one of the City's major special events and the biggest single-day international cycling race in North America.
As part of TD Bank's assessment of its sponsorship dollars, the bank has decided to step down from title sponsorship of the Reading and Lehigh Valley Classics, the first two legs of the Pennsylvania Triple Crown of Cycling.
While TD Bank will not be returning as the title sponsor of the Lehigh Valley Classic, the bank will be open to discuss other levels of support if the race continues. TD also will continue to actively support a wide range of Lehigh Valley organizations that focus on youth, the arts, economic development, and assistance to disadvantaged residents throughout the region.
Since the Reading area is outside of TD Bank's footprint, the bank will no longer be involved in the Reading event.
PCT officials are in discussion with both Allentown and Reading officials to determine if there is enough interest from other sponsors to continue these events and will make a final decision by the end of January, 2009.
