Team Expanded at PCT to Lead Race Production

This year's Philly race will see many familiar faces returning to produce the event as well as several new ones joining the executive team.

Wirsing returns for his second year as Technical Director, responsible for the many technical aspects of the TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship, which will celebrate its 26th running through the streets of Philadelphia on Sunday, June 6, 2010.  In addition to serving as the liaison with race officials, Wirsing will oversee all team invitations and logistics, technical regulations, sanction applications and more.  Not only has Wirsing competed in, directed and promoted races during his 25-year career, he’s won more than 50 races and developed both amateur and professional teams.

Another member of the team with strong ties to cycling is Franziska Petermann, who will serve as the Senior Project Manager. Petermann will oversee many of the logistics involved in staging a race of this caliber, pulling from her extensive race experience, as well as her work in sponsor relations. Previously, Petermann worked on several professional cycling events in Germany, including the Vattenfall Cyclassics and the Tour of Germany, a UCI ProTour stage race, as well as the American leg of the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship race in Washington, D.C.  Cycling is a family affair for Petermann -- her uncle is a former member of the German national team, and her father competes regularly in Masters World Championships.

Kopecky, a sports advertising and broadcast media veteran, joins Pro Cycling Tour as the Sales Manager of Sponsorships.  A founder of SOS Sports, Kopecky also served as Account Manager for CBS Sports, where she was charged with sales related to all four major sports franchises in the Philadelphia market. In her role with Pro Cycling Tour, Kopecky is seeking to expand the community of sponsor support for the “granddaddy” of all American cycling and to extend the sports marketing opportunities for the TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship.

Formerly with the IBM Consulting Group, Hoffer helped lead IBM’s entry into business consulting before forming his own practice.  Throughout his career as a marketing and technology consultant, currently as the CEO of KnowledgeFlow, Inc., Hoffer has delivered customer loyalty marketing solutions for clients like AT&T, Wells Fargo, Apple, Dun & Bradstreet, Unisys and Hewlett-Packard.  He is working with Pro Cycling Tour to expand overall market development and affinity business strategies for the professional cycling race.

“We are fortunate to have such a strong team leading the technical aspects, event logistics, sponsorships and business development areas for the race this year,” said David Chauner, president of Pro Cycling Tour, who along with his partner, Jerry Casale, founded the Philadelphia race in 1984. “Their extensive experience on and off the race course builds on an enterprise that is proven and expands our reach within the sponsorship community that is so essential to this sport,” he said.
